Last night we might just have witnessed Arcadia’s first laugh. She observed me beating some eggs with a fork and giggled. We haven’t gotten her to repeat it, but it was very exciting! Before there were movies how did dream play out? A lot of my dreams are first person*, but not always. Some dreams use** cinematic style pans and angles, many of which would only be possible in real life with a camera on a crane. Did the ancient Greeks or the nomadic herds people of pre-history have such motion in their dreams? I suppose one way to find this out would be to interview some of the few remaining primitive remote cultures who have never seen a movie before, but how am I to do this? * – I am not always the person which I am viewing first person. ** – I have to say that the dream uses a style or technique because it’s not my consciousness running the show. |
