I found a used Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 1:1 macro lens for my Nikon SLR on Amazon. I saved a ridiculous amount of money ($600) and now have a lens I really like. It’s not perfect, but it is fun to play with. We’re lucky we live where we do, as all I need to do is walk out on to the back deck and find lots of interesting creatures. Here’s a “friend” who I see frequently. He’s currently in the process of regenerating his tail. I’ll keep you informed of his progress.

Here's his tail in the early stages of regeneration.

Nice work. What is the meta-data for the first photo? Have you tried any 1:1 shots yet?
Ok, I give up what exactly is a 1:1? I thought all my pics shot with this lens were 1:1…. Oh well, I guess I do need those photo books you recommended – I did order the two book series.
I’ll make a post showing how I know when my lens is set for 1:1 macro shots! To get the meta-data just load the photo into Lightroom.
