Music to get excited about…

welcome-to-mali_1

Today on my way home from work I was listening to NPR and they did a music review on the new CD out by Amadou & Miriam, Welcome to Mali.  We first heard about Amadou & Miriam during a previous music review on NPR back in 2005 or 2006, when they discussed their CD Dimanche a Bamako.  After listening to the music clips and hearing the story about the artists, we bought the first CD.  Then, maybe a year ago or so, while browsing the music selection at Best Buy, we purchased a second CD of theirs, Je Pense a Toi: The Best of Amadou & Miriam.  I’ve throughly enjoyed the 2 CDs we’ve purchased, so when NPR introduced me to their newest CD today, I made a mental note to myself to add the CD to my Amazon wishlist.   A transcript of the CD review and audio (available after 7pm EST) are available on NPR’s website.

New Music for the New Year

These are all the albums I’ve gotten in the past 3 months, not including any children’s music.  I’ve listed them in from most excitement to least, but they’re all good.  However, I expected more from Morcheeba.  Let me know if you want sample any of them, I’ll tell you which tracks are the best.

Music Concerts and Pregnant Wives

So Ratatat is in town… should be an awesome show. I’ve been into their stuff ever since it was used on NPR as their interlude music. The difficulty that I am having now is figuring out how to make the show an enjoyable experience for Kathryn. The show either starts at 8 pm or that’s when the doors open, it’s at the Black Cat, and there are two opening bands. Will she make it so late? Will she be hungry? Will she be able to sit or will her ankles swell up? I hope she can make it because my little baby girl needs to experience some great music!
